The Greater Seattle Chapter of The Links, Incorporated has been
providing community service for over forty-eight years. It has grown from
eleven members in 1955 to a current membership of sixty-five.
The Chapter supports the programs proposed by the National
Headquarters as well as creating its own programs using the guidelines of the
four facets. The vision as set by the parent body, is to impact positively the
quality of life through community service.
One of our goals is to partner with other organizations. For the
last 12 years, the chapter has collaborated with the Junior League of
Seattle to provide over 12,000 bags of personal items for sheltered
mothers on Mother’s Day.
The Greater Seattle Chapter has contributed to the National organization’s
pledges of one million dollars to the United Negro College Fund (which has been
completed) and also one million dollars to the NAACP Legal Defense Fund (near
completion). In addition it has given over $875,000 locally, in scholarships,
awards and community projects over the years since its establishment. Also, the
members have given more than 125,000 hours in volunteer service to the
community.
A large part of the chapter’s success is dependent on the
excellent support of our friends and corporate sponsors.
